Just when everyone thought that Karanatak politics have settled down and Kumaraswamy will be the chief minister of the state, the latest developments are suggesting another thunderstorm in the Kannada state. The reports are suggesting that Congress MLAs are threatening the party high command that they will resign their MLA posts if they are not offered higher positions in the yet-to-be-formed government.
Apparently, Congress senior leaders, Yaswanthrai Patil and Sivanand Patil have already made their intentions clear that they are ready to quit the party if they are not offered minister posts in the cabinet. On the other hand, MB Patil has asked for deputy CM post and is in no mood to back down on his demand.
Interestingly, Congress leaders have asked the party high command to allot deputy CM posts to Lingayath and SC community. They have bought up the issue to JDS leader, Deve Gowda’s notice, but the senior leader is against the idea as he wants his son, Kumaraswamy to be the sole leader(CM) of the state.
It would be interesting to watch if Congress will bow down to their MLAs demands and add extra pressure on JDS to fulfill their demands. Congress MLAs have come to a conclusion that they are very much in demand as the JDS-Congres alliance has just 4 MLAs more than the magic figure and every member is a valuable asset in current conditions.
