Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) president Prof Kodandaram is likely to contest the coming Lok Sabha polls from Nizamabad parliamentary constituency.
This would also mean that Prof Kondaram will be contesting against, none other than, Nizamabad sitting MP Kavitha Kalvakuntla.
Earlier this week, Kodandaram has announced that the JSP would be extending its support to the Congress party in Telangana. The TJS had announced that it will be contesting in four segments including Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Malkajgiri in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 11 in Telangana. Kodandaram had stated that JSP would extend support to the Congress candidates in the remaining 13 segments.
Political analysts opine that TRS leader and sitting MP Kavitha will face tough competition from TJS Prof Kodandaram in Nizamabad. Both Kodandaram and Kavitha fought towards the formation of Telangana state and have high appeal among the local population in the district. Meanwhile, Congress and opposition leaders opine that Kavitha’s defeat in Nizamabad would be symbolic of TRS’s defeat in the state, even if TRS wins the remainder LS seats.
