The opening day trade reports of Rajinikanth’s Kaala are out and they are nowhere near superstar’s previous film, Kabali. Kaala was hit by a few controversies just days before its worldwide release and that seems to have taken a toll on the collections of the film.
The trade reports suggest that the action entertainer has grossed Rs 17 crores in Tamil Nadu and Rs 7 crores in Andhra Pradesh. These are just decent numbers when compared to Rajini’s films that set the ticket counters on fire irrespective of the talk of the movie. Another report stated that the movie grossed a total of Rs 17 crores in the overseas and Rs 9 crores from the remaining states in India.
Kaala’s total tally stands at Rs 50 crores and that is just 2/3rd of Kabali, which made a staggering amount of Rs 88 crores on its first day(Worldwide). However, Kabali lost the heat quickly as the movie failed to live up to the expectations, but Kaala is carrying a decent word of mouth, which may come in handy. It would be interesting to watch if Rajini can find his feet and register solid numbers with Kaala.
