Our political leaders are so very obsessed with attention and popularity that they hold protest events just to show their crowd-pulling capabilities. A while ago, YS Jagan used this deeksha strategy to irk the government. The opposition party spent a lot of money for these arrangements and we saw massive turnout for the events no matter where they were held.
Interestingly, Chandra Babu has opted for a similar strategy and has kickstarted Dharma Poraata deeksha in various constituencies in Andhra Pradesh. The government was heavily criticised for spending a hell lot of money on these protests. However, that is not stopping the yellow party from organizing and planning new deeksha’s.
The latest addition to the list is Pawan Kalyan, who is currently in a one-day Deeksha at a private resort in Srikakulam. Pawan is protesting against the government’s negligence towards the Uddanam Kidney issue. At a time when Deeksha’s are all about spending crores of money and massive crowd turnouts, Pawan has opted for a simple deeksha. He was seen holding a book in his hand, seated on a plastic chair. Well, this is surely a great initiative to avoid unnecessary costs, but will it yield any results? We have to wait and watch to know the answers.
