It is now the era where women in cinema are speaking up against the inappropriate behavior they had to face from their male producers, directors, and actors. This is now the time when women are finally able to breathe a sigh of relief and avoid any sort of sexual misconduct or inappropriate behavior they have to encounter.
Recently, senior Tamil actress Rekha spoke about her experience with Kamal Haasan and legendary director K. Balachander. The incident happened during the shooting of Punnagai Mannan, dubbed as Dance Master in Telugu. Rekha played the role of Ranjini, who commits suicide and dies because her parents do not accept her love with Kamal. In a particular scene in the film, Rekha was not informed about the lip kiss between her and Kamal, but Kamal and Balachander proceeded with it. When she questioned them about it, they dismissed saying that it was very common.
Ever since the news came out, Twitteratis have been firing angrily on Kamal Haasan. This once again shows the misogynistic mindset that is prevalent in the film industry and reminds one that it is high time certain things change.
