The last biggest releases that Tollywood saw was in January, for Sankranthi. Mahesh’s Sarileru Neekevvaru and Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikuntapuramlo drew hoards of crowds to the theaters.

While other movies too released after that, Coronavirus forced all theaters to be shut down by summer, for when other high profile films were planned. Now, despite the Government of India giving permission to reopen theaters in the country, the Telugu states have decided not to do so yet. The tentative date for reopening theaters in the Telugu states is December 4th.

In the meantime, several movies have geared up for a theatrical release for Sankranthi 2021. Vakeel Saab, Ram’s Red and Ravi Teja’s Krack will be releasing for Sankranthi. Rana’s Aranya too will release at the same time.

On the other hand, Akhil’s Most Eligible Bachelor and Vaishnav Tej’s Uppena will be released during the Republic Day weekend. Naga Chaitanya’s film Love Story is being planned to be released for Valentine’s Day weekend.

It is now to be seen if Sankranthi will be able to pull people back to the theaters once again.
