Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has started working on the upcoming local body elections in the state. He has called for an all-party meeting to discuss the possibility of holding the local body elections in the near future.
However, the state government seems to be in no mood to hold the election just yet.
Andhra Pradesh civil supplies minister Kodali Nani made a few interesting comments while speaking about the elections.
“Nimmagadda Ramesh is trying to take one-sided decisions and that is not right. He cannot hold elections without support from the state government. Reports claim that a second wave of Covid-19 pandemic might hit Andhra Pradesh after Dusserah. How can he expect people to come out and vote amid such a tense situation,” he said.
Andhra Pradesh government is unlikely to hold the elections in next few months. The chief minister YS Jagan is yet to take the final decision in this regard. We need to wait and see how SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar will react to the state government’s stand.
