The government of Andhra Pradesh announced a partial lockdown in the state of AP on May 4th. This was announced to last for a 14 day period, from May 5th to May 18th. Now, the YSRCP government has announced that this partial lockdown has been extended till the end of May.

The lockdown starts from 12 PM, post which Section 144 is imposed in the state. Everything is allowed to run only between 6 AM and 12 PM. The government thought that the severity of coronavirus in the state would come down in 14 days, but AP has been reporting more and more cases every day, with at least 20,000 cases every day, and an all-time high of 24,171 cases.

On the other hand, the AP government is planning to go ahead with conducting board exams for 10th and 12th class students from June 7th. While most of the states in India have chosen to cancel their board exams, AP is still certain about wanting to conduct exams.
