In his recent press meet, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao suggested that a lockdown might be imposed in Hyderabad from the start of July. There were reports that a strict lockdown would be imposed but that did not happen.
Incidentally, the possibility of imposition of lockdown led a steep rise in liquor sales in Telangana.
From June 26th to May 1st liquor sales amounted to Rs 973 crores, which is a staggering amount.
The total liquor sales for the month of June are reportedly Rs 1955 crores. The substantially high income during these coronavirus times should help the government of Telangana.
Telangana government gained an income of Rs 4997 crores this financial year through liquor sales.
The government of Telangana did not impose a lockdown in Hyderabad. The number of new cases have been on a rise for the past one week or so.
