All the political parties of the state of Telangana campaigned rigorously for the GHMC elections that took place today. The campaigning was so severe that it reminded everyone of the campaigning for general elections.
With such severe campaigning, everyone thought that a lot of people would turn up to vote for the elections. However, this turned out to be a major overestimation on behalf of all the parties in the state.
According to the latest reports, only 8.4% of the population of Hyderabad exercised their right to vote in the first fours hours of voting on Tuesday. This is a very low turnout, considering Hyderabad’s population. This is no surprise, considering the fact that the numbers were quite as bad the last time around as well.
Taking this into consideration, many are considering the GHMC elections as a huge disaster, with not many voters exercising their right to vote.
