Earlier today, the supreme court stated that it can’t interfere with the Election Commission’s orders regarding elections and dismissed Andhra Pradesh government’s plea to postpone the local body elections.
The local body elections in Andhra Pradesh will now be held as per the schedule released by the state election commission officer Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar.
The nomination filing process has commenced already and 5th February is said to be the last date for the nomination process.
Well, it seems to be that the chief minister YS Jagan’s hopes of postponing the election have been quashed and he is left with no other option but to battle it out.
It needs to be said that the ruling party YSRC led by Jagan will start as overwhelming favorites in the local body elections, especially after registering a sensational victory in last assembly elections.
Meanwhile, the opposition parties, Telugu Desam, BJP and Janasena have been saying that they will definitely put up a good show in the elections.
