The local body elections in Andhra Pradesh are not far from now and the opposition party, Telugu Desam forces are preparing for the same.
However, TDP has lost a big chunk of its cadre to YSRCP and BJP already. Many of the party’s booth-level leaders have switched sides and that might cost the party dearly in the local body elections.
Also, the newly appointed TDP district presidents are relatively lesser known faces. It would be a really tough task for them to come up against the ruling party forces who are basking in the sensational victory of their party in last year’s general elections.
The latest news is that TDP young gun Nara Lokesh is set to go on a state-wide tour starting very soon. TDP forces want Nara Lokesh to be the hero for the party now and act as their star campaigner. They are hoping he would set the stage for the party ahead of the local body elections. Lokesh will be kick-starting the much-awaited campaign from today as he will be touring Kurnool district.
Chandrababu Naidu is hesitant to come out and interact with the common public owing to Covid-19 situation and understandably so. Now, the onus is on Lokesh to turn hero for his party and only time will tell if he has what it takes.
