It is already known that three MLAs have been staying away from Telugu Desam Party for a while now. Most important one of the lot is Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who was elected as MLA from Gannavaram.
Yesterday, two more TDP MLAs, Sambasiva Rao, and Anagani Satyaprasad met with the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. They might leave TDP soon, if asked to do so by the YCP high command.
It is being said that two more MLAs are in talks with YSRCP and are ready to switch loyalties if needed. This means, there are a total of 7 MLAs who are ready to leave TDP. If that happens, TDP will have 16 MLAs on its side and consequently lose the opposition party status.
Now, it would be really interesting to see if TDP will demand the state government to hold by-election in these constituencies after the 7 MLAs resign their posts. Usually, by-elections favor the ruling party. If that is the case, losing 7 MLAs in by-election would yield catastrophic results to TDP. So, it remains to be seen if the Chandrababu-led party will demand by-election or not.
