Review : Oh Baby

Star heroine Samantha’s Oh! Baby is carrying good expectations from the audience. Touted as an emotional fantasy drama, the film has hit the screens all over today. Let’s check what worked and what didn’t for the film.

Story:

Baby (Lakshmi) an aged widow leads her life with children and grandchildren. But due to her over affection and old generation behavior towards family members turns into a serious issue and she will be sent to old age home. This is that time when Baby wishes to turn as a young lady to fulfill her sacrificed desires. Rest of the story is what will the younger version of Baby (Samantha) do to fulfill her dreams. To know in detail about the proceedings, you have to catch the film in the theaters near you.

Analysis:

Though director Nandini Reddy adopted the film’s main plotline from Koren film, Miss Granny, she tried to present the remake with our Telugu nativity touch. Nandini narrated the proceedings by balancing both fun and family emotions in a proper manner and succeeded largely.

Coming to artists performance, Samantha is undoubtedly a gifted actress. She is the main pillar of the film and tried to elevate every scene with her imposing screen presence. Be it fun scenes or emotional scenes Sam pulled off the film with her tremendous screen presence.

Rajendra Prasad and Rao Ramesh delivered good performance in the given key roles. Senior actress Lakshmi is decent in her crucial role. Naga Shaurya is appealing in the supporting role.

The climax will be a surprise for the audience and treat to watch for the Akkineni fans.

Plus Points:

Samantha’s performance

Entertaining first half

Climax

Minus Points:

Lengthy second half

Music

Verdict:

All in all, Oh! Baby is an emotional tale of an old lady named Baby. The entertaining narration in the first half and Sam’s presence are the biggest pluses for the film which is otherwise a normal family drama. Though the second half is a bit dragged, the emotional content will satisfy the family audience hence making it a good watch for this weekend.
