The Telangana government has assigned the target of planting 3 crore saplings to the GHMC in a bid to push KCR’s Haritha Haram environment program.
Considering that GHMC has only 700 acres of open land in the city, it now has to ask for land from other departments to grow these 3 crore saplings and achieve their target.
GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore has reviewed this target with his team and instructed the officials to explore all possibilities to execute these orders.
Haritha Haram was a program that was the brain-child of Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao which was launched in 2015.
RTC Bus fares across the state were recently hiked in a bid to pull Telangana out of its Rs 3000 crore debt accumulated since the Telangana State formation. With the state struggling to overcome the funds’ deficit, it will be interesting to see where and how the GHMC manages to plant and maintain these 3 crore saplings.
